NOTE: OUR EVENING LECTURES TAKE PLACE ON THE 4TH TUESDAY OF THE MONTH
We are a vibrant, friendly and welcoming society which meets for our monthly lectures in the Bouverie Hall, Pewsey, Wiltshire. Click on the tabs above: Visits, Study Days, Church Recording, Heritage and Young Arts to see more of what we offer our members.
Established in 1991, The Arts Society Pewsey Vale has a membership of 200+ and is part of The Arts Society (previously known as NADFAS), a charitable organisation supporting 385 societies around the world. As well as throughout the UK, there are societies in Malta, Gibraltar, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Australia and New Zealand.
Our stated aims are the advancement of education and the appreciation of the arts as well as support for the conservation of our artistic heritage.
We meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month for our lectures at the Bouverie Hall, Pewsey. The doors open at 7pm with the lecture starting at 7:30pm for an hour followed by an opportunity to ask the lecturer questions relating to the topic. The Arts Society Pewsey Vale welcomes new members - the annual membership fee of £40 gives members access to monthly lectures by highly qualified experts on a wide range of topics (please click the Lectures tab above), 3 superb visits to interesting places often not accessible to the general public; 2 study days for a more in-depth introduction into carefully selected interesting subjects led by a highly qualified lecturer in that subject.
Members can also join the Church Recording team where members of both Pewsey Vale and Devizes Arts Societies record the contents of our wonderful local churches - an interesting and nationally important activity for our church heritage. Click here to see the amazing list of almost 2000 churches recorded by the volunteers of The Arts Society's Church Recording groups - up to 2018
Our Young Arts arm has a proud history of providing young people with exciting opportunities to get involved in creative arts activities. We also have an exciting Heritage Volunteering group currently involved in the restoration of Wolfhall, Burbage, the home of Jane Seymour.
Our monthly newsletters are now on the Members/Contacts tab.
Our society is a member society of Wessex Area which offers superb series of study days to members in its 20 member societies.
